The American military coined the acronym 'VUCA' to describe the situation in Afghanistan - Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous.
In the context of the current global economy, it seems an apt framework to use. Alasdair MacLeod will touch on some of the factors driving this VUCA world – in particular the changes driven by technology, by climate, or by Acts of God - then some of the responses required from those charged with in New Zealand.
This is a not to be missed event that will be filled with insights into the way we should be looking at our business.
Alasdair MacLeod has specialist skills in economic development, the primary sector, and in business strategy. He is a retired partner at Deloitte's and his experience encompasses a wide range of public and private sector clients. He has advised clients on change management, strategy, organisational restructuring, process improvement, and on the business implications of technology decisions.
He has presented to many conferences, internal and external workshops, and was also guest lecturer for Massey University Graduate School of Business. He has published articles in New Zealand and overseas professional and management journals.
Alasdair is Chairman of Napier Port, Silverstripe – an open source software company, Tomatoes NZ to name a few. In former lives he was City Construction Engineer for Gisborne City Council, a tree-pruner in the Whareratas, a commercial fisherman off the coast of Skye, and a bus driver in Greenock.
