ExportNZ ASB Wellington Export Awards

June saw the first inaugural ExportNZ ASB Wellington Export Awards heldin the heart of the capital. The sold-out gala dinner at Te Wharewaka on theWellington waterfront showcased export entrants from the Wellington region,which includes Horowhenua, Manawatu, Tararua, and Wairarapa down to Wellington.

Levin-based licorice maker RJ's Licorice was the winner of the ASB Wellington Exporter of the Year Award. Online children's learning company Storypark,of Wellington, won the Wellington Airport Emerging Exporter Award;electricity retailer Powershop, of Wellington, won the CentrePort Excellence in Services Export Award; architectural mesh manufacturer Kaynemaile,of Petone, won the MFAT Innovation in Export Award; and playground surface manufacturer Matta Products, of Otaki, won the Wellington City Council Most Sustainable in Export Award and peanut butter manufacturers, Fix & Fogg, of Wellington, won the NZTE Judges' Commendation Award.

We look forward to celebrating the best of Wellington's export communityagain in 2018.

What were the categories?


ASB Exporter of the Year Award - RJ's Licorice

A massive congratulations to RJ's Licorice, winner of our first ASB Exporter of the Year Award. There was plenty of talent in the running for the top title but RJ's Licorice shone the brightest. They showed outstanding performance in each of these key areas:

*    Export earnings, growth and profit
*    Leadership and direction
*    Excellence in marketing
*    Export strategy and business planning
*    Commitment to quality management
*    Governance

And they still had time left over to set the Guinness World Record for the largest licorice allsort with a lime green, black and white monster of a sweet!


Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade Innovation in Export Award - Kaynemaile

The MFAT Innovation in Export award recognises a Wellington business displaying outstanding innovation in exporting. And this year that business was Kaynemaile. This makes two in a row for the team at Kaynemaile after they took the best architectural product award at the NYCxDesign awards. It seems there's no end in sight for their success. Long may it last.

Wellington City Council Most Sustainable in Export Award - Matta Products

The purpose of the Wellington City Council Most Sustainable in Export award is to select the Wellington Exporter who can demonstrate sustainability in all aspects of their business. And winners Matta Products did just that. With recycling and a low carbon foot print being the life blood of their company, these playground surfacing experts are looking out for the health and safety of our kids both today and long into the future.

Wellington Airport Emerging Exporter Award - Storypark

The Wellington Airport Emerging Exporter award celebrates the company that has made the most remarkable leap forward in start-up exporting. And with their industry leading childrens' early learning platform, Storypark have made that remarkable leap. Their goal to help every child fulfill their unique potential, by connecting and empowering the community around them, is leading them into new markets, and making them leaders in those markets.  

CentrePort Wellington

CentrePort Excellence in Services Export Award - Powershop

The CentrePort Wellington Excellence in Services Export award recognises the service provider that has demonstrated exceptional performance in consultancy services, ICT, education, and/or tourism. It was Powershop's excellent services that clinched the top spot in the end. With their bright personality and unique approach to power provision, Powershop having been making serious headway both at home and abroad.
