We invite you to our first networking event for 2021 brought to you by The Port of Tauranga.  An opportunity for you and your team to Rub Shoulders with new and existing connections in our Bay of Plenty ExportNZ community.

As well as networking with your colleagues and fellow exporters Blair Hamill from the Port of Tauranga will give you an update on what is happening in their world and will be joined by Catherine Beard, Executive Director of ExportNZ and Alan McDonald, Head of Advocacy for the EMA who will give an update on advocacy work being carried out on the behalf of exporters such as:

  • Progress on FTA’s (UK & EU)
  • Shipping and logistics challenges
  • R&D tax incentives
  • Advocacy on essential business travel through the border and MIQ
  • Climate Change Commission – Net Zero by 2050
  • Legislation and costs for employers

This is a great opportunity to extend your network with other exporting businesses and hear what changes or opportunities lay ahead for NZ exporters on the international stage.


Blair Hamill – Commercial Manager at the Port of Tauranga

Blair  oversees port operations, marketing and new business opportunities. He joined the Company i July 2020 after 20 years at Zespri International, the world/s largest kiwifruit marketer. Blair held a variety of senior roles at Zespri, including Global Commercial Manager and most recently, Chief Supply Officer. Blair is a former chartered accountant.


Alan McDonald – Head of Advocacy and Strategy for the EMA

Alan’s role is to set and guide the policy agenda for the EMA and lobby both central and local government on behalf of the organisation.


Catherine Beard, Executive Director of ExportNZ

Catherine works with government and other key decision makers on issues of concern to exporters and manufacturers. Catherine has spent the last 20 years as a lobbyist and advocate for several industries, including on climate change issues for the energy-intensive sector, all aspects of the fire and general insurance sector and dairy issues in the agricultural sector. She represents BusinessNZ at the Global Federation of Competitiveness Council.
