Latin America Market Awareness Workshop

Latin America Market Awareness Workshop

Latin America Market Awareness Workshop

To address the Covid-19 developments, we have developed a specific online offering for the Latin America Market Awareness workshop. It will be held via Zoom, a conferencing platform online. The session is complimentary and open to all New Zealand businesses.

We have made these changes because we remain committed to build a strong supportive community amongst New Zealand exporters with an interest in Latin America.

The workshop will be immersive, aimed at helping you identify areas of focus, develop and refine ideas, and build your capability to successfully do business in the region.

At the workshop you will also:

  • Hear from New Zealand businesses and market experts about how to do business in the region;
  • Discuss practical market knowledge and the latest research;
  • Refine your value proposition for the Latin American market and test your ideas with your peers;
  • Explore the key elements of a marketing plan to reach your target customer segment; and
  • Better understand how you can conduct consumer research in Latin America.

Facilitators:

Dr. Ben Fath – Senior Lecturer, University of Auckland

Ben Fath’s interest in growing New Zealand businesses stems from more than a decade of scholarship investigating innovation, internationalisation and competitiveness of NZ SMEs. Ben focuses on the evolution of markets, strategic management capabilities and evidence based decision making. In collaboration with scholars at the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford, Ben has undertaken a series of studies in New Zealand and Europe to better understand how strategic thinking helps SMEs to thrive in changing environments. Ben currently teaches on the MBA program of the University of Auckland.

Dr. Antje Fiedler – Senior Lecturer, University of Auckland

Antje Fiedler is a Senior Lecturer at the Graduate School of Management. Antje teaches on the MBA and Masters program in the area of international business and strategy. Craig Nicholson – Programme Manager, Latin America Centre of Asia-Pacific Excellence

Craig has worked for more than 25 years in government, business and NGO settings in New Zealand and internationally. He has held a variety of senior and leadership roles at the Office of Ethnic Communities in the 2000’s, playing a key role in the development of ethnic diversity management policies, strategies and training initiatives. Building capability in New Zealand businesses and organisations to work effectively across a super-diversity of settings and peoples and to contribute to increased productivity and a harmonious society was a particular highlight.

Craig has significant experience in Latin America having worked and travelled extensively in the region.  He was the Academic Director in Chile for the School for International Training in the 1990’s, co-directing a study abroad programme for US university students. Craig was also a lecturer in intercultural communication at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaiso in Chile and an intercultural business consultant.

Shannon Chang – Project Coordinator, Latin America Centre of Asia-Pacific Excellence

Shannon’s bi-cultural upbringing fostered a curiosity about different cultures and ways of living at a young age. This led her to spend four years traveling the world where she discovered her passion for Latin America.  She lived and worked in Colombia, Mexico and Costa Rica for two years. Shannon’s professional background is in project coordination and programme development. She has managed, coordinated, and led projects in those countries. Now living in New Zealand, she feels closely tied to the LatAm CAPE’s mission of bringing New Zealand closer to Latin America and welcomes the opportunity to connect others with a region she is so passionate about.

Registrations are open to exporters in Auckland, Northland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty.
