Trade Mission to Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macao

ExportNZ and NZTE are running a joint Trade Mission to Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macao (Macao optional) in July. The mission is now one week long and leaves NZ on 12 July.

Mission leads will be:
• Sir Ken Stevens - Glidepath
• Phil O’Reilly - BusinessNZ
• Charles Finny - Lead negotiator ANZTEC

This is a great opportunity to explore the Hong Kong market further and the first opportunity to leverage the relatively new ANZTEC agreement with Taiwan.  The NZTE Taipei office will be developing and handling all in-market activities to ensure a well-rounded, successful programme. More...

Kiwi innovators too quiet about success

Sir Ray Avery says New Zealand's innovators are being held back from global recognition because they are isolated and quiet about their success.

Sir Ray, an award-winning scientist, inventor and philanthropist, told TV ONE's Q+A that New Zealand's half-a-million small businesses could flourish globally if they were more visible.

He says he is "ferociously proud of Kiwis" who have lead global innovations in medicine, technology and space exploration and believes they need to step into the spotlight.

"What's fascinating about Kiwis is we don't tell people who we are as an innovation centre. We need to step up and say: 'We're clever'," Sir Ray said this morning.

He says New Zealanders rarely collaborate and that this limits our success. More...
