MESSAGE FROM EXPORTNZ

Tēna koe, and Happy New Year to you all.

The BusinessNZ Network are closely monitoring the situation and response to the threat of the Omicron variant and community transmission. Border restrictions and MIQ space is still front of mind for ExportNZ, especially as these protocols remain in place for the foreseeable future.

Despite Omicron casting uncertainty over the start of the year, ExportNZ are pushing forward with our plans for 2022. Make sure to save the date for Go Global 2022, due to be held in Auckland on Tuesday, 24th May. After a two-year hiatus, we’ve got a really exciting lineup. Keep an eye out for more details coming soon.

Over the coming months I’ll also be out and about, hoping to meet as many exporters as I can. I look forward to hearing about your business and the issues you’re facing, and bringing your stories back to HQ.

In the meantime, flick me an email if you’d like to get in touch jtan@exportnz.org.nz.

Josh

Exporter MIQ Allocation for March

NZTE will be opening up the Exporter MIQ Allocation for March applications from midday 19 January 2022. Further details are below:

  • The application form for March will go live Exporter MIQ Allocation website from midday on 19 January 2022. It will close at 10am NZT on Friday 28 January 2022.
  • Exporters may make an application, even if they were already awarded spaces under the Exporter MIQ Allocation for January or February 2022.
  • Applications will need to meet an initial eligibility assessment based on the information provided in the application form. NZTE will run a ballot to award spaces.
  • An exporting company can make one application. An application may be for up to three nominated travellers (up from two in the last round of the Exporter Allocation)

The criteria will remain the same:

  • The applicant is a New Zealand business that exports goods or services.
  • The primary reason for travel is to carry out activities to maintain or grow the applicant’s export revenue, which need to be carried out in person.
  • The nominated traveller is an employee of the applicant or engaged under contract by the applicant.
  • The nominated traveller is legally able to enter New Zealand under current border conditions. Please note that NZ Government rules on this are subject to change so travellers need to ensure they keep up to date on this.

Exporters can apply from midday Wednesday 19 January on the Exporter MIQ Allocation website. Applications won’t be assessed until after the closing date.

New report trumpets scope for ice cream exports

The following press release from Hon Stuart Nash's office was released on 12 January 22.

Economic Development Minister Stuart Nash has released a new report for the Food and Beverage Information Project. The project is run by government agencies MBIE, MPI and NZTE, who have oversight of innovation, primary industries and trade development.
