ExportNZ Hawke's Bay Executive Officer Amanda Liddle says they were overwhelmed by the number and calibre of businesses that entered.
"The quality is outstanding and this is a great opportunity for us to join in celebrating these businesses. The judges have been extremely impressed with what they have seen. They have had their work cut out for them again this year.
"Exporting is a big part of business in Hawke's Bay and a huge contributor to the local economy, so we're delighted we can again shine a light on those businesses that are really succeeding."
John Milford, the Chief Executive of Business Central, which oversees ExportNZ Hawke's Bay, said his organisation supported the awards because they recognised excellence in a sector that is a vital part of the regional and national economy.
"Without these companies doing what they do we would not have the standard of living we have today, so it's fitting we can acknowledge and encourage that."
Exporter and international branding expert David Boyd will be the keynote speaker at the finals event, which sold out within weeks of going on sale.
The judges were ExportNZ Hawke's Bay Chairman Alasdair MacLeod, NZ Trade and Enterprise Customer Director Amanda Martin, ASB Head of International Trade Mike Atkins, and Business Hawke's Bay CEO Susan White.
To enter the awards, businesses had to be generating export earnings of more than $100,000 for more than three consecutive years.
Other sponsors of the awards are New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, Trinity Hill, Pask Winery, Jetstar, OPure, Business Central and Grundy Productions.
Business Central represents employers from Taranaki, across to Gisborne and as far South as Nelson. Business Central also provides employer, health and safety, and human resources advice, and advocates policies that reflect the interest of the business community.
